Established in 1882, Peppers Martinborough Hotel is a historic retreat offering luxury, boutique accommodation in the heart of one of New Zealand's finest wine growing regions near Wellington.

Martinborough is known internationally for its outstanding wines - most of which are grown and made within walking distance of Peppers Martinborough Hotel. Our wine list includes a comprehensive selection of varietals and vintages from these great vineyards.

Less well known is the wonderful local produce, which features in our Bistrot and Settlers Bar menus. Local olive oil is a particular favourite as are the ugly mushrooms, which are farmed nearby. Wairarapa lamb is a perfect match for Martinborough Pinot Noir, and crayfish and whitebait caught off the Wairarapa coast are a delight when accompanied with a crisp local Sauvignon Blanc.

The Bistrot and Settlers Bar are open every day for a fine dining experience or simply good local food and wine.

At Peppers Martinborough Hotel choose from sixteen individually designed guest accommodation rooms to suit your mood. Indulge in the elegant surroundings of one of our nine Verandah Rooms, located at the top of the grand flight of stairs in the original 1882 building. Or take a wander through the pretty courtyard just beyond the lobby and enjoy the tranquillity of seven spacious Garden Rooms finished in a restful simple country style.

Whether you choose a historic Verandah Room or the more contemporary feel of a Garden Room, there's utmost comfort throughout. Verandah Rooms
Verandah Rooms are located on the first floor of the hotel opening out onto a deep balcony. Each has its own individual character; aged wooden floors, luxurious Persian rugs and Chinese porcelain. Feature shower only.

Heritage Verandah Rooms

Garden Rooms

Shek O Suite
Up a private flight of stairs, you step into the light and luxurious Shek O. It has a dreamy feel with its colours of beige and duck egg blue, elegant iron bedhead and miniature oils of Wairarapa barns. Enjoy the comfort of steamer chairs on your own private verandah. Shek O interconnects with Beetham downstairs if required. Available in king / twin with bath & shower.

The romantic, luxury honeymoon suite is ideal for the bride and groom for their wedding night or as a honeymoon destination. Sixteen individually designed rooms provide superb accommodation for the rest of the party. 

Fine food is our forte and we can tailor menus to suit you, with a wide range of wines from local vineyards. Our aim is to ensure that your wedding is relaxed and enjoyable so our wedding co-ordinator will help plan the special day with suggestions for everything from celebrants, churches, chapels, music, photographers to florists.

Peppers Martinborough is located at The Square, Martinborough, North Island New Zealand.

Most of our guests drive to Martinborough from Wellington or along the Classic New Zealand Wine Trail from Hawkes Bay.

If you drive from central Wellington, the travel time is about 75 minutes. State Highway 2 takes you over the Rimutaka Hill and down into Featherston. Before you reach the Main Street, a signpost directs traffic to the right to Martinborough along State Highway 53 - a distance of just 18 kilometres.

Travellers from Hawkes Bay should follow State Highway 2 through Greytown. Just as you are leaving the town, a signpost to Martinborough will be visible on the left.

The nearest rail station is Featherston, which is on the Wellington to Masterton line. The journey from Wellington takes one hour. We can arrange transport, at extra cost, from the station to Martinborough.
